"In order to get down to the volcano cave you have to take a small elevator that only fits about 4 people. Therefore, it took a great deal of time to get all of the equipment, band and crew in position. The acoustics inside the cave were very unique and it was difficult to find your footing on the rocks. We wound up spending over 25 hours on this project." Thrihnukagigur volcano is located just south of Reykjavík. In the video, Kaleo states the location as þríhnúkagígur - this refers to a specific crater and the actual magma chamber they performed in. Their behind the scenes footage of what it took to film this live video is pretty enlightening (and I'm hoping somewhere on the editing table there's more random footage yet to be seen).
