They even released an official lyric video for this! -Animation by Evan Kaufmann Skálholt Cathedral, Skálholtsdómkirkja, is located about an hour from Reykjavik. Since 1874 religious freedom has been a legal right in Iceland and today about 70% of icelanders are part of the Church of Iceland. Today Skálholt receives many visitors every year because of its historical significance but it has more to offer than history, it is a place of culture, spirituality and music run by the Church of Iceland and open for all. The Cathedral is also famous for its summer Music Festival that is held five weekends in July and August. (from FunIceland.is)
The cathedral contains a total of 25 stained glass windows made by Gerður Helgadóttir. They are designed in an abstract manner and depict Christian symbolism and some of the medieval bishops of Skálholt. The altarpiece is the work of Nína Tryggvadóttir and depicts Christ coming into the cathedral with the landscape behind depicting Iceland. The pulpit dates from the 17th century and is the one used by Bishop Brynjólfur Sveinsson in 1650. -Wikipedia
