Jes Lim, originally from San Francisco, California and now living in Hawai'i,
shares some of her JJ art with us though @jcalliepainter on Instagram "all pieces begin with a sketch using graphite. at the next stages, the drawings are further developed using additional ranges of darker and lighter graphite values, or charcoal for a particularly high-contrast piece - this is great for something with bright lighting and intense shadows. in painting i use watercolors or acrylics - watercolors being a lighter medium, are able to capture subjects or scenes with a more minimalistic approach if colors and brushstrokes are strategically placed, while acrylics are reserved for rendering details in more realistic paintings."

When asked how she chooses what photo or image it is she's going to use for her next piece of artwork, she answered:
usually it's an image that strikes you immediately. "that would look great as an art piece." and it would be done |
